Photo Shoot Frequently Asked Questions

These are the photo shoot questions I get asked most often so I have shown them all here in case they are useful for you. Every photo shoot is different though and I like to make each session unique to the individual or group I am photographing. With that in mind, if you have any other questions please contact me and I will be happy to help.

Can you do outdoor photos or photos at our home?

Yes. I offer outdoor/location photo shoots. These can be at a local outdoor location or at your home.

Can I bring my dog to the shoot?

Absolutely! All pets are welcome. I offer dedicated pet sessions, however you are welcome to bring them to your photo shoot too, for example to your individual shoot, family photo shoot or a children's photo shoot. Please let me know in advance and then I can consider locations which are suitable for dogs.

Can other family members join the session?

Yes, it is always nice when Grandparents want to come along to see their Grandchildren's photo shoot session. They don't have to be in the photos (however I can often persuade them to be in a few!).

What happens if my young children cry throughout the session?

I allow plenty of time for photo shoots so each session is relaxed and unrushed. Often this is enough for young children to become more relaxed as the session progresses. Occasionally however, babies and very young children will just not be in the mood to have their photos taken. It’s not a problem, I will simply re-book another session for you as soon as possible so we can try again on a different day.

What do I need to bring to my session?

Here is a short list of ideas and suggestions for each type of session.

Family/children  – this will very much depend on the ages of the children but for very young children, bring along their favourite toys or teddys. For older children (and adults too), bring along items for any hobbies they may be into. If you have a hobby or interest that you would like to include in your session (for example, a musical instrument or sports equipment) then feel free to bring them along.

One person photo shoot - bring along outfit changes and accessories. I can advise on what will look best before your session or on the day. If you're not sure, bring it with you anyway!

Pets – depending on the breed or the nature of your dog, bring whatever will motivate them, usually their favourite toys and/or food treats. Your dog's lead may be needed if your dog cannot sit still for long. Don't forget water and a water bowl too.

Cake smash – the cake and at least one change of clothes! Face wipes may be useful too.

Head shots/portfolio – bring along outfit changes for variety as well as accessories such as scarves, ties, jackets and jewellery. These can make a big difference to the photos!

How much does a photo shoot cost?

It depends on what type of photo shoot you would like. View the portraits page for more details on each session type and please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss ideas for a photo shoot I haven't shown. All of my photo shoots include a complimentary print with additional photo products are available as an option.

How do I book?

Just call the studio or if you are arranging a surprise session you may prefer to send an email. I am happy to check dates for availability or answer any specific questions you may have about the choice of photo shoots on offer.

I’ve lost or forgotten my photo shoot voucher – what should I do?

Don't worry! There will be a record of  your voucher being purchased even if it was given to you as a gift so I can always see what type of voucher you have.

Do you photograph weddings?

Yes, as well as studio and outdoor photo shoots I also offer wedding photography. You can choose how much wedding photography time you would like as well as other options such as a pre-wedding photo shoot, wedding album etc. View the weddings page to see the choice available.

I hope that helps! If I missed anything or you have other questions about your own photo shoot please contact me directly.
