Horse Photo Shoot
A horse and rider photo shoot is the perfect way to capture the bond between you and your horse while providing a fun and rewarding experience. In case you are thinking of having an equestrian photo shoot, here are a few of my ideas on how to get the best from the experience:
Location
The location of your photo shoot can make a big difference to the style of photographs I create. When you are thinking about where we could meet for your photo shoot, consider choosing a setting with natural or rustic features such as a meadow, barn, or woodland to add depth and interest to your photos. You may not think it, but old buildings and weathered doors can look great in the background of your photos while a sandy beach can be perfect for action shots.

Time of Day
I prefer natural lighting for my horse and rider portraits so I recommend early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and flattering. It doesn't need to be sunny. If the forecast is for heavy rain or storms then we can always reschedule for another time or day.

Styling for Success
Before the photo shoot, allow enough time to groom your horse to create a perfect appearance in the photos. A well-groomed horse will not only look stunning in the photos but will also help you feel confident and to relax during the shoot. You don’t need to plait your horse because your equine photoshoot will hopefully be a relaxed occasion. Leather headcollars and a black or brown lead rope are ideal (and won't dominate the photo) unless you want the colour of the lead rope to match your own clothing.
As for yourself, choose an outfit that reflects your personal style while also being comfortable and practical for riding. Of course, you may prefer not to ride and choose instead to have photos showing your horse in-hand. Clothing with neutral colours or earth tones tend to work well. Avoid busy patterns or logos that can draw the eye and distract from the main focus of the photo – you and your horse. I recommend wearing your best outfit rather than your mucking out clothes. If you are able to change at the stable then you could choose two or three different outfits. I will always try to create images with a style to match your own personality. If you wear dresses then you could also include a summer dress, or even a prom dress or ball gown.
Posing with Poise
During the photo shoot, I will capture a variety of poses that showcase the bond between you and your horse. Whether it's a candid moment of affection or a dynamic action shot, the key is to relax, have fun, and let your natural connection shine through. If there is a particular shot or shots you want, then let me know in advance so I can plan to include these during your photo shoot. And lastly, enjoy every minute, this is your time to shine!

Preserving the Memories
Once the photo shoot is over, I will prepare the images and then invite you to the studio to see them all. All of my photo shoots include a complimentary print and there is also the option of creating a photo album or having your favourite photograph framed to display in your home.
So, why wait? Schedule a horse and rider photo shoot today and I will help you create memories that will last a lifetime!
