A black and white monochrome photograph of Dr Mannings Yard (Yard 83) in Kendal, Cumbria. The cottages in the yard are thought to date from the early 18th century and Paul's photograph of this traditional yard in the 'Auld Grey Town' of Kendal conveys a sense of history juxtaposed with elements of modern life that are visible in the image.

A bit more history:
The yard was formerly known as Braithwaite's Yard named after Quaker and philanthropist George Braithwaite who established a drysalter business in 1713 supplying materials to the local textile trade. The yard was later renamed to Dr Manning's Yard, named after the physician who practiced there during the early 1900s.
